About Me
Nicole
My name is Nicole, but my childhood nickname was Neco. How I became Nicole is a funny story for another day.
Anyway, I am a mom of two young adult children, the proud owner of a KitchenAid stand mixer that I lovingly gave the name of Daisy, no pets until our puppy Franklin James recently joined the clan, and I am a wife of over 25 years. The fact that I actually named my mixer tells you that I absolutely love to bake. But I am not here to talk about cookies or cakes. I am here to talk about womanhood and marriage, more specifically, being a wife, wifey, bride, old lady (lol), better half, helpmate, etc.
If you are married, then you already know what I mean when I sum up the last two and a half decades of being a wife with two words, “Whew child”. LOL. Anyway, after 27 years and many failed attempts to transform my husband into my idea of his best possible self, I have decided to stay in my own lane and work towards becoming my best possible self in Christ.
What that looks like, I have yet to discover. What I do know is what it does not look like. My best possible self does not look like my husband (and yours doesn’t either). Not even a little bit. When I look in the mirror, all I see is me. If he stands next to me in the mirror and I move my arm or turn my neck, his reflection does not move. What that tells me is that I can only move myself; I can only change myself.
In my quest of becoming my best possible self, two books really inspired me – The Empowered Wife by Laura Doyle and Kingdom Woman by Tony Evans and Chrystal Evans Hurst. Ironically, I was never an avid reader, but I have grown to appreciate books like these that challenge me, teach me, inspire me, strengthen me, and lead to growth and discovery.
The original name for this blog was TheWivesBookClub.com, which was birthed out of my desire to share with other wives some of the inspiration and discovery I experienced from reading. But after letting God lead me more and realizing that much of what I have been led to write has been inspired not just from books, but from simple everyday encounters as a wife, a woman, and a prayer warrior, I decided that “Wife Woman Warrior” was more fitting. Now I am no expert, and my marriage is not perfect. So why would anyone want to hear from me? You may not and that’s ok. 😊 However, if you are ordinary like me, tired like me, imperfect like me, always on a diet like me (lol), a real mom like me, a regular wife like me….then stick around. You do not have to be a book reader to spend time with me. All you need is an open heart and about 10 minutes of your time two or three times a month. I am just like you, your mom, sister, best friend, daughter and every woman in your circle, who simply want to be a better, healthier woman (mind, body, and spirit), better mom, better wife and prayerfully have the next 27 plus years of marriage go from an exacerbated “Whew”… to an enthusiastic “Wow!”. I simply want to inspire and be inspired on this ongoing journey of becoming my best possible self as wife, woman, and warrior.
